to one out of every 10 senior citizens of the world, by the
turn of this century, one in seven aged people in the world
will be from India.

efforts of physicians devoted to the cause of the elderly the
Geriatric Society of India(GSI) was born in the year 1979.
However as a
community of doctors and policy makers little has been done
to implement activities targeting the needs of this group.
